Our Wedding: 04/11/17
I wanted to write about our
wedding from the moment we began to plan it, but wanted to keep so many things a
surprise from our guest that it seemed impossible at the time.

Our wedding took place on 4th November 2017 and it really was the most amazing day of our
entire lives. We chose a Bonfire night wedding to line up with the one
year anniversary of our engagement and in celebration of our most favourite
time of the year.
We wanted a rustic theme and a country side setting close to
where we both grew up with a venue big enough for all of our closets family a
friends. We found a local barn on the
tops not far from where Tom grew up, part wedding venue, part mountain rescue
base and totally perfect.

We chose the church closest to where I grew up for the
ceremony and made sure that the short 20 minute drive between the two made the
most of the amazing local scenery that we both love.
Music was very important to us, as was food and celebrating everything we love with everyone we love.
We chose our favourite local restaurant to do the catering and our guests enjoyed a mulled wine and craft beer drinks reception with thai beef lettuce boats, sweet potato samosas, nachos and honey glazed pigs in blankets before moving onto a main course of spicy jerk chicken with corn bread, steak and ale pie or falafel stuffed peppers.

Dessert was even more un-traditional as we asked our guests
to compete in a Bake-Off before inviting them to toast marshmallows by the fire
and binge on bags of bonfire toffee.
The night continued with a BBQ and as much mac and cheese as we could
possible eat before we moved on to cutting the cake.
We kept the decoration of the venue minimal and rustic, full of candles, lanterns and a little bit of mistletoe.
To save some money
and add a personal touch I made the seating plan, order of service and invitations myself along with the favours: a cd with a selection of our favourite songs
from the day and name places were clay Christmas decorations for our guests to
hang on their trees.
We danced the night away, drank gin from our own little gin
bar and lit sparklers around the fire.
When everyone was completely danced out
the night drew to a close and we all made our way back down off the tops and
back to our beds.
